If you could suggest one action that organizations can take to accelerate the representation of women at the top, what would it be?

Address the complexities of women’s lives in a real and practical way. Companies cannot say they want to have more women without properly addressing childcare, flexible schedules, the need for mental wellness, and other care. As long as we provide women safety, love, and understanding in their work environment, they will give the best of themselves. When companies say they want more women but don’t make efforts to tangibly address and respect women’s lives, no one can give the best of themselves.

If you could suggest one action that women could take to accelerate their career growth, what would it be?

Stay true to your heart’s desire and to your passion, creativity, and talents. You do not need to sacrifice what makes you joyful and creative in order to advance your career. It is possible to find a way to do both even if the speed of your advancement may be different than the typical career trajectory.  That adjustment to the speed of the reward is worth it because it is about the journey of our career and what it brings us in personal satisfaction as well as professional growth and not about how fast we can get there without inner and personal satisfaction.

Robert Abreu – Sensitize the organization’s leadership to the common stereotyping of women, the language that’s used to describe women’s behaviors specifically, and the impact of having predisposed ideas of what a leader looks like.
