Our History

On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the #RedShoeTuesday campaign is bestowed a Special Citation by Kathy Hochul, New York State Governor, for its impact in the state and globally.

We celebrated our 10th anniversary during our Red Shoe Movement Signature Event at MetLife, our host and lead sponsor for the past 10 years.

At the intersection of art and cause marketing, we  partnered with visual artist Colette Miller to create an amazing installation in front of which people can share their stories of courage, and overcoming challenging to inspire others to follow in their footsteps. The first wings were set on the 72nd floor of the Spotify building at 4 World Trade Center overlooking the Freedom Tower. The initiative is now being licensed to different companies interested in engaging in a global conversations around the courage to take your career to the next level. 

As a result of the pandemic and the need for a trusted platform to provide talent development and employee engagement, after 8 years operating in North America and Latin America, the Red Shoe Movement's leadership programs expand to Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa.

We kick off the “Ring the Bell on the 7 Seas,” a Red Shoe Movement© Global Initiative with founding sponsor Celebrity Cruises. We create ceremonies where we ring the bell and read a manifesto to call attention to the need for all styles of leadership. Since then, many partners have joined the initiative, such as the Panama Canal, Microsoft, Prudential, Novartis and others.

We roll out our Awards platform:
The Hall of Fame Award to recognize senior executives who dedicate their careers to promote inclusion (excluding anyone in an HR/DEI role).

The Red Shoe Leader Award to honor anyone who the prior year has gone above and beyond their role to promote inclusion.

Our uniquely effective leadership development programs are launched, kicking off over a decade-worth of talent who has gone through them and in doing so, have attained promotions, and increased influence inside and outside their organizations.

First ever Red Shoe Movement Signature Event is hosted at the New York Times in New York City. Our unique Mutual Mentoring Circles methodology is established.

Starting in 2014, we’ve only hosted our annual event at MetLife.

The #RedShoeTuesday initiative is coined and since then, every Tuesday, people wear red shoes and accessories to go to work in order to keep up the conversation about how we design workplaces that work for everyone.The first group of Ambassadors is formed.
